Kolkata: Traffic Tweaks on Vidyasagar Setu for Expressway
Starting August 10, big trucks and medium-sized goods vehicles will have to change how they travel in parts of Kolkata.
This is because they are building a new, bigger road above the current one called the Kona Expressway.
During the day, these trucks can't use Vidyasagar Setu and nearby roads.
At night, trucks going to a certain highway can use a different bridge.
Important vehicles carrying things like medicine and food are still allowed to go where they need to.
This helps keep the roads safe while the new road is being built.
Traffic restrictions for heavy and medium goods vehicles will be implemented on Vidyasagar Setu and connecting roads.
The restrictions start on August 10 to facilitate the construction of the six-lane elevated Kona Expressway.
Heavy and medium goods vehicles are banned between 6 AM and 11 PM on specific routes.
Vehicles heading to NH-12 can use alternate routes via Nivedita Setu and Tallah Bridge between 10 PM and 6 AM.
Essential service vehicles carrying items like medicine and food are exempt.
