Kerala Child Rights Panel Acts Over Alleged WhatsApp-Related Assault

A six-year-old girl in Neyyattinkara was taken to a hospital with injuries.

Police said her mother allegedly hurt her after WhatsApp was removed from a phone and messages were deleted.

The family first said the child had been hurt while playing.

A doctor spoke with the girl separately, and she allegedly said her mother had hurt her.

The hospital then told the police.

Police took the mother into custody and began investigating.

Kerala’s child rights commission also registered a case after reports about the incident.

The commission asked local officials for explanations.
