House Fails to Override Trump Vetoes
The U.S. House of Representatives tried to override two vetoes by President Donald Trump.
These vetoes were on projects that had been approved by Congress.
One project was for clean drinking water in Colorado, and the other was for the Everglades National Park.
Both projects were supported by all members of Congress.
To override the vetoes, two-thirds of both the House and the Senate need to agree.
This is unusual because Congress usually supports Trump.
Trump has vetoed 10 bills in his first term, but only one was overridden by Congress.
Some Democrats think Trump vetoed the Colorado project to punish the state for something related to elections.
However, Republicans believe Trump vetoed the projects because he thought the local community should fund them.
The House did not get enough votes to override the vetoes.
U.S. House of Representatives failed to override Trump's vetoes on two projects.
Projects include a $1.3 billion drinking-water project in Colorado and a $14 million project in the Everglades National Park.
Both projects passed Congress unanimously.
Override requires a two-thirds supermajority in both the House and the Senate.
