CBI Arrests Five More in Rs 42 Crore Scams

The Central Bureau of Investigation, or CBI, arrested five more people in three alleged online fraud cases.

These cases involved a scam called digital arrest.

In this scam, fraudsters allegedly pretended to be police officers and kept victims under control through phones or the internet.

The victims were allegedly made to send large amounts of money.

One victim connected with BITS Pilani allegedly lost Rs 7.67 crore over three months.

A Gujarat victim allegedly lost Rs 19.24 crore over three months.

A Karnataka victim allegedly lost Rs 15.45 crore over one month.

The CBI says the newly arrested people helped move the money through several bank accounts.

Some of them allegedly used malicious software to read bank messages and control an account.
