Uttarakhand Celebrates First Uniform Civil Code Day

The Uttarakhand Government celebrated the first Uniform Civil Code Day at the Himalayan Cultural Center.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the committee members and officers who worked on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

He spoke about how the UCC ensures social justice, equality, and constitutional values.

The UCC, which was implemented on January 27, 2025, aims to eliminate social evils and establish harmony through equality.

It includes uniform rules for marriage, divorce, and inheritance, and mandates the registration of live-in relationships.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the UCC has led to a significant increase in marriage registrations, with over 4.7 lakh marriages registered in less than a year.

He emphasized that the UCC is not against any religion but is a legal effort to remove social evils and ensure equal rights for all citizens.
