'Thug Life' to Have Eight-Week Theatrical Run Before Streaming
Kamal Haasan's new movie, 'Thug Life,' will be in theaters for two months before it's on streaming services.
This is longer than usual, and it's because Kamal Haasan wants people to go see the movie in theaters first.
The streaming service, Netflix, agrees with this plan.
The movie is an action drama directed by Mani Ratnam.
It features Kamal Haasan, who is reuniting with Mani Ratnam after 35 years.
They are working on their lifelong friendship through this film.
Kamal Haasan's 'Thug Life' will have an eight-week theatrical window before its OTT release.
This contrasts the common four-week model used post-pandemic.
Kamal Haasan aims to preserve theatrical release value with the longer window.
Netflix supports this strategy and will be the streaming partner.
The film reunites Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam.
