IndiGo Cancellations Trigger Airfare Caps
IndiGo, a big airline in India, has been having a lot of problems.
They had to cancel many flights because they didn't plan well for new rules about how much pilots can work.
This made a lot of people stuck at airports.
Other airlines started charging very high prices for their flights, so the government stepped in and said they can't charge too much.
IndiGo says they hope to fix everything by mid-December.
The government also arranged special trains to help people travel.
Some people had to wait a long time to get their luggage back after their flights were cancelled.
The government is also looking into what went wrong and might punish IndiGo for not following the rules.
Some people are blaming the government for letting this happen because they think the government has been favoring big companies and not making sure there is enough competition in the airline industry.
IndiGo cancelled 385 flights on Saturday, marking the fifth day of disruptions due to new pilot rest and night flying rules.
The government imposed airfare caps to prevent opportunistic pricing and protect passengers from high fares during the crisis.
IndiGo expects to return to normal operations between December 10 and 15, 2025.
Other airlines like Air India and Akasa have not faced cancellations under the new rules.
Passengers at major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, faced long waits and confusion due to cancellations.
