Balcony collapses in Mohali’s Phase 1
In a neighborhood called Phase 1 in Mohali, a balcony that was recently built fell down.
It crashed into the house next door, which belonged to a man named Mohan Sharma.
Luckily, no one was hurt because the children who usually play there had just gone inside a few minutes before the balcony fell.
The homeowner had built the balcony without a strong beam to support it, which made it unsafe.
Mr. Sharma had warned his neighbor about this, but the neighbor didn't listen.
The police took a long time to come because the Chief Minister was visiting the city.
People in the neighborhood are worried because many buildings are being constructed without proper checks, and this could lead to bigger accidents in the future.
A balcony at house number HB-135 in Phase 1, Mohali, collapsed on December 13, 2023.
The balcony fell into the neighboring house, HB-134, owned by Mohan Sharma, damaging the verandah grill and causing the floor to sink.
No one was injured as the children had moved inside just before the collapse.
The homeowner had constructed the balcony without a supporting beam, making it unsafe.
The police response was delayed due to the Punjab Chief Minister's movement in the city.
