MP CM Yadav vows Shipra river clean for 2028 Kumbh
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has promised to make the Shipra river clean and pollution-free before the next Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028.
This event, held every 12 years in Ujjain, is very important for Hindu devotees who take holy dips in the river.
The Shipra river is currently polluted by water from the Kanh and Saraswati rivers.
To fix this, the government plans to store rainwater in a reservoir and release it gradually into the Shipra to keep the water flowing.
They also have a special plan to stop polluted water from entering the Shipra.
The last Kumbh Mela in 2016 saw devotees bathing in water from the Narmada river, which was brought in through a special project.
The goal is to have the Shipra's own purified water ready for the next Kumbh Mela.
Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav pledges to clean Shipra river before 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
Plan includes storing rainwater in a reservoir and gradually releasing it into the Shipra.
Pollution from Kanh and Saraswati rivers is a major challenge for cleaning the Shipra.
Special measures to prevent polluted water from entering the Shipra ahead of the 2028 Kumbh Mela.
Previous Kumbh Mela in 2016 used water from the Narmada river for holy dips.
