Jorabat Tensions Continue As Meghalaya Convoy Faces Protests

Protests have continued for three days at the Jorabat border between Assam and Meghalaya.

People became more upset when a convoy carrying Meghalaya officials passed through the area.

Protesters shouted that the Meghalaya Government should leave or step down.

Transport workers and cab operators have also limited traffic going toward Meghalaya.

The dispute began after violence and damage to vehicles during a student rally in Shillong.

Officials from both states are now discussing the problem.

Assam minister Atul Bora and Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar are leading those talks.

Their goal is to calm the situation and reopen normal travel.
