JNU Files NCR Over Objectionable Slogans
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration asked the police to investigate some slogans that were shouted at an event.
The police then filed a report about it.
The report was filed under certain sections of the law that deal with insults and mischief.
The event was organized by students who are part of the JNU Students' Union (JNUSU) to mark the anniversary of a past incident of campus violence.
The police said they received a complaint from the university's security officer.
This all happened after an incident on January 5, and the report was filed two days later.
The JNU administration stated that any form of violence, unlawful conduct, or anti-national activity will not be tolerated.
The students, however, maintained that the slogans were part of a peaceful protest.
JNU administration requested police to investigate alleged objectionable slogans at a JNUSU event.
Delhi Police filed a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR) at Vasant Kunj North police station.
The NCR was filed under sections 352 and 353 of the BNS.
The complaint was received from the Chief Security Officer of JNU on January 7, 2026.
