Election Commission Defers Tripura Electoral Roll Revision Until November
Tripura is updating its list of people who can vote.
This work is called a Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.
It was supposed to begin on September 5.
The Election Commission delayed it because Village Committee elections will take place on September 28.
Election workers and party representatives will be busy with those elections.
The new house-to-house checking will happen from November 6 to December 5, 2026.
A draft voter list will be released on December 12.
People can then file claims and objections.
The final voter list is expected on February 15, 2027.
The Election Commission of India deferred Tripura’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls because of September 28 Village Committee elections.
Booth Level Officers will conduct house-to-house visits from November 6 to December 5, 2026.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on December 12, 2026, with final rolls due on February 15, 2027.
The BJP and CPI-M supported postponing the revision, citing the involvement of election officials and party representatives in the Village Committee polls.
Tripura has 28.97 lakh electors across 3,356 polling stations, covering all 60 Assembly constituencies.
