Delhi to Provide Free Sugar to AAY Beneficiaries
The Delhi government has decided to give free sugar to poor families who are part of the Antyodaya Anna Yojana.
Starting from January 2026 until March 2027, each family will get 1 kilogram of sugar every month.
This sugar will come in clean, branded packets instead of being given loose, which can sometimes get dirty or mixed with other things.
The government wants to make sure that these families have enough good food to eat and that the sugar is safe and easy to handle.
Right now, the sugar is given in loose form, but soon it will be packed properly.
This is a new plan to help the poor and make sure they have enough food.
Delhi government approves free 1 kg sugar per month for 65,883 AAY beneficiaries.
Scheme to run from January 2026 to March 2027.
Sugar to be provided in branded, standardised packets for better hygiene and accurate measurement.
Current distribution is in loose form, which can lead to contamination and short weighing.
Distribution will continue under the existing system until new tender for branded packaging is finalised.
