FPOs Boost Trade on Commodity Bourses

FPOs Boost Trade on Commodity Bourses

Farmers groups in India are selling more of their crops on special markets called commodity bourses.

These groups, called FPOs, have sold over Rs 444 crore worth of crops like cotton, cumin, and turmeric.

They started using these markets in 2025.

Some big farmer groups have sold a lot, like one in Maharashtra that sold Rs 75 crore worth of crops.

The government and banks are helping these groups by giving them money to lock in prices before they plant their crops.

This helps farmers get better prices for their crops.

More than 5.6 million farmers are part of these groups, and they have sold a lot of crops online too, on platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
