Tehelka Founder Tarun Tejpal Sentenced to 10 Years for Rape

Tehelka Founder Tarun Tejpal Sentenced to 10 Years for Rape

A man named Tarun Tejpal used to be the boss of a news magazine called Tehelka.

He was accused of hurting a woman who worked with him, inside a hotel lift.

This happened in Goa in November 2013.

A smaller court first said he was not guilty.

But the government of Goa did not agree and asked a bigger court to look again.

That bigger court, called the Bombay High Court, said he was guilty.

It sent him to jail for 10 years.

Some readers wrote letters about the case, and one person said it is wrong to support people who hurt others.

The case was talked about a lot because India was already working to make its laws against hurting people stronger.

That happened after a very bad event on a bus in Delhi in 2012.
