New UPI MDR Rules Could Boost Rediff.com IPO Prospects

New UPI MDR Rules Could Boost Rediff.com IPO Prospects

India is changing how some large UPI payments are priced.

Starting October 15, merchants will pay a small fee on certain payments above ₹2,000.

Customers will not pay this fee directly.

Most everyday UPI payments and payments between people will remain free.

The money collected will be shared among companies involved in processing UPI payments.

Rediff.com runs an app called RediffPay that could receive part of this money.

Other companies, including Paytm and Pine Labs, may also benefit.

Analysts disagree on the exact size of the total business opportunity, with estimates ranging from ₹16,000 crore to ₹22,000 crore.

This could be relevant as Rediff.com prepares for a planned IPO.
