First-Level EVM, VVPAT Checking Completed in 34 Districts
The Election Commission of India and political party representatives checked Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units in 34 districts.
They found all the machines to be in good condition for the upcoming elections in April.
A few more machines need to be checked in the district of Tamulpur by February 18.
This checking ensures that the machines are ready for the Assembly elections scheduled for April.

The exercise was conducted from December 11 to January 9 following Election Commission guidelines.
A total of 43,348 ballot units, 36,113 control units, and 45,332 VVPAT units were checked and found fit.
Supplementary checking is required in almost all districts and will be completed by February 18.
The State will be ready for the Assembly elections in April after the completion of the first-level checking.
