Parents Call Arrest Breakthrough, Seek Answers in US Murder
Nikitha Godishala was a 27-year-old woman from Hyderabad who was found dead in the United States.
She had stab wounds, and her body was found in an apartment linked to her former boyfriend, Arjun Sharma.
Sharma had reported her missing before flying from the United States to India.
Hyderabad Police later found and arrested him in Agra.
Nikitha’s parents said the arrest was an important first step.
They want US authorities to explain what happened and share information more clearly.
They said they learned that her body was inside a suitcase from media reports rather than officials.
The family also says Sharma owed Nikitha and others money.
They want investigators to examine money records, messages and phone activity for evidence.
Nikitha Godishala, 27, was found dead with stab wounds in her ex-boyfriend Arjun Sharma’s Columbia apartment on January 3.
Sharma had reported Godishala missing and said he last saw her on December 31, before flying to India.
Hyderabad Police traced and arrested Sharma at a flat in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on August 24.
Godishala’s parents called the arrest an important breakthrough but said it was only the beginning of their pursuit of justice.
The family wants Indian and US investigators to examine financial transactions, communications and mobile-phone activity.
