Panetta Warns Iran Conflict Could Continue Six Months

Leon Panetta, a former US defence secretary, thinks the conflict between the United States and Iran may last six more months.

He says there is no clear plan for ending it.

Panetta worries that it could become a long war like the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He also says problems among US defence leaders could make the country look weak.

The Pentagon disagrees and says it is working effectively.

Panetta says US troops should not remain in a war zone endlessly without plans to rotate them.

Vice-President JD Vance uses different language and does not call the fighting a war.

He also says he does not know when the conflict will end.
