Catholic Forum Urges Modi to Condemn Attacks on Christians
A group of Catholic scholars and social workers from the Northeast wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi.
They told him about many attacks on Christians in the past two years.
They said these attacks happened during Christmas and were done by certain groups.
The letter asks Modi to say he doesn't like these attacks and to tell the states not to use laws to bother Christians.
They also mentioned that a group called the RSS, which has the same ideas as Modi's party, is involved in these attacks.
The North East Catholic Research Forum (NECRF) wrote to PM Modi about 834 attacks on Christians in 2024 and 706 attacks in 2025.
The letter highlights ten incidents during Christmas 2025, including the destruction of a nativity crib at St Mary’s School in Assam.
Five members of Bajrang Dal and VHP were arrested for the incident at St Mary’s School.
The NECRF urges Modi to disapprove of these attacks and direct states to refrain from misusing anti-conversion laws.
The forum alleges that the RSS and its front organizations are targeting Christians to restrict their religious activities and services.
