Delhi High Court Closes Sajjan Kumar Appeal After Death

Sajjan Kumar was convicted in a case involving the deaths of two people during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

He appealed the conviction in the Delhi High Court.

Kumar died on August 20 while serving life sentences in Tihar jail.

Because he died, the court said his appeal could not continue.

The case concerned Jaswant Singh and his son Tarundeep Singh.

They were killed in Saraswati Vihar on November 1, 1984.

A trial court had sentenced Kumar to life imprisonment in February 2025.

The court also said the crime did not qualify for the death penalty.
