Differently-Abled Students Craft Planet-Friendly Rakhis Ahead of Rakhi Festival

Children with disabilities are learning to make special Rakhis for the upcoming festival.

Their teacher-trainer, Suchitra Balakrishna, is guiding them.

They use natural items such as seeds, nuts, spices and pulses.

The Rakhis are designed to be kinder to the planet.

Some of them can be planted after use.

Others can be given to birds as food.

The activity also helps the children learn skills and become more self-reliant.

The Rakhis can be bought from the trust’s centre until the evening of August 27.
