Tamil Nadu Allocates Rs 340 Crore to Boost Water Supply
Tamil Nadu's chief minister, C Joseph Vijay, gave the state 340 crore rupees to help with a water shortage.
The shortage happened because the monsoon rains were weak.
He met with officials at the Secretariat in Chennai to talk about how much water is in the dams and how much rain fell.
He said they should meet often and make quick decisions so people don’t run out of water.
The money will be used to run programs that bring more water to the state.
Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay allocated Rs 340 crore to address water shortages caused by poor monsoon rains.
The allocation will fund programs to augment water supply across Tamil Nadu.
A meeting reviewed rainfall, dam storage, and water levels, noting 20 districts received 19–59% less rainfall, with Chengalpattu and Ramanathpuram at 60% below normal.
Vijay urged officials to hold regular meetings and make quick decisions to prevent shortages.
The funding aims to help tide over the crisis amid the South West monsoon's inadequate rainfall.
