Gujarat Schools Change Exam Structure: Quarterly, Semester Exams
Imagine you're in primary school in Gujarat.
Instead of small tests every week, you'll now have bigger tests called quarterly and semester exams.
These new tests start in August and October.
The quarterly tests will be worth 40 marks each.
The state will give teachers questions to use.
These changes come after teachers and others said they didn't like the old tests.
Now, the tests will be more comprehensive, and you will also be evaluated by your classmates and parents.
Gujarat government primary schools will replace unit tests with quarterly and semester exams.
The changes affect over 30 lakh students in Classes III to VIII across more than 32,000 schools.
Quarterly exams will run from August 18 to 30, with each subject worth 40 marks.
Semester exams will be held from October 6 to 14, following guidelines from the state education department.
GCERT will prepare question banks for the quarterly exams.
