Trump Repeats India-Pakistan Ceasefire Credit at United Nations Assembly

Donald Trump spoke about the India-Pakistan ceasefire at the United Nations General Assembly.

He said Pakistan’s prime minister told him that 30 million lives had been saved.

Trump said his talks and tariff threats helped stop the fighting.

India gives a different explanation.

India says the two countries’ military leaders communicated directly to reach the ceasefire.

India does not credit the United States with mediating the agreement.

Trump also listed India and Pakistan among several conflicts he said his administration helped settle.

He said trade pressure can encourage countries to negotiate.
