Yields Ease as AI Optimism Pushes Stocks to Records

US government bond yields dipped on Tuesday after reaching very high levels.

Yields are the returns investors get for lending money to governments.

Even after falling, they remained high compared with many past years.

US stocks rose, and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished at record highs.

Investors were hopeful about technology companies and the growth of artificial intelligence.

They were also waiting for notes from the Federal Reserve’s latest meeting to learn more about possible interest-rate decisions.

Bond markets in France and Germany also calmed somewhat.

Oil stayed near $100 a barrel, while worries about inflation, government debt, and energy supplies continued.
