Carney Walks Out of U.S. Trade Talks, Escalating Levies

Canada and the United States were having trade talks.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney chose to leave those talks.

He also supported keeping retaliatory taxes on U.S. goods.

This could hurt Canada because the two countries trade heavily with each other.

About 90,000 Canadian jobs were said to be at risk.

Carney believed the United States could also feel economic pain.

Some U.S. states have Canada as their biggest trading partner.

He had also prepared by discussing trade with India, China and other countries.
