Dev Meena Sets Pole Vault Record, Misses Asian Games Podium

Dev Kumar Meena competed in the men’s pole vault final at the Asian Games.

He jumped over a bar set at 5.50 metres.

That was higher than his previous Indian national record of 5.46 metres.

He cleared 5.50 metres on his second try.

However, he could not clear the next height of 5.60 metres after three attempts.

Because of this, he finished seventh instead of winning a medal.

His teammate Kuldeep Kumar finished 10th.

Meena’s new record shows that he is improving quickly.

He now holds the Indian national record at 5.50 metres.
