HDFC Bank Shares Rise as CEO Succession Speculation Continues

HDFC Bank’s shares rose nearly 9% from their lowest price in the past year.

Macquarie, a brokerage, still believes the bank’s shares could perform well.

The bank is preparing for its current chief executive to leave on October 26, 2026.

Bagchi, who leads ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, is one person reportedly being considered for the job.

However, no final decision has been made.

Macquarie said a new outside leader might have difficulty keeping senior employees and branch managers.

The new chief may need to grow retail lending, improve deposits, technology and customer service.

Macquarie set a possible share price target of Rs 1,150 over the next 12 months but warned about several risks.
