Indian Markets Open Lower as Oil and Tensions Rise

Indian Markets Open Lower as Oil and Tensions Rise

Indian stock markets started Monday slightly lower.

Investors were worried because tensions involving the United States and Iran pushed oil prices higher.

Brent oil rose above $90 per barrel.

Higher oil prices can create pressure for India because it imports crude oil.

Asian markets, including Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong, also fell.

Technology and metal shares declined the most in early trading.

Comments from Kevin Warsh made investors consider whether US interest rates could rise in September.

Analysts said the Nifty could regain strength above 24,215 but might fall further if it breaks below 24,060.
