Karnataka Discovers Lithium, Gold in Forests
Karnataka has found lots of gold and lithium in two places.
One place has 12-14 grams of gold in every ton of rock, which is a lot more than usual.
The other place has lithium, which is a special metal used in batteries.
But both places are in protected forests, so the government hasn't given permission to start digging yet.
They are still checking and making sure it's safe for the environment.
Some people are also worried about illegal mining and want to protect the forests.
Karnataka discovered significant gold reserves in Koppal and lithium deposits in Raichur.
Gold deposit contains 12-14 grams per tonne, higher than typical mining yields.
Both sites are within protected forest areas, requiring forest clearance for mining.
Only initial exploration stages completed; deep drilling and mining not yet started.
Environmental concerns and security threats pose challenges to mining operations.
