Skyroot Aerospace Overcomes Challenges to Launch Vikram-1
Skyroot Aerospace, a private Indian company, recently launched Vikram-1, a rocket that can go into space.
This makes them one of the few private companies in the world to do this.
The founders, Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, used to work for the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) but started their own company to build rockets.
They saw that the space industry was changing and that private companies could play a big role.
Building Vikram-1 was very hard.
They had to find money to fund their work, train people who had never worked in space before, and deal with the complex technology of rockets.
Vikram-1 is mostly made in India, which helps keep costs low.
The company plans to launch rockets more often and is working on even bigger rockets for the future.
They hope that the Indian government will support them by buying their services, just like the US government supports SpaceX.
Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1, India's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle.
The company was founded by former ISRO employees Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka.
Vikram-1 is entirely designed and manufactured in India, with over 90% of components sourced domestically.
Key challenges included raising capital, training talent, and dealing with the complexity of rocket technology.
Skyroot Aerospace plans to increase its launch cadence to one mission per month by next year and is developing Vikram-2 for larger payloads.
