Thane Leads India’s Busiest Railway Stations With 9.3 Crore Passengers

Indian Railways shared a list of its 100 busiest stations based on passenger numbers.

Thane station came first, with 9.3 crore passengers, and Kalyan came second.

Several other busy stations are in the Mumbai region.

Thane is also an important place in railway history because India’s first passenger train reached it in 1853.

The station is now very crowded.

A new station is being built between Thane and Mulund to help some passengers.

Studies predict it could reduce crowds at Thane and Mulund stations by about 20% to 25%.
