Musk Eyes India for Starlink Expansion
Elon Musk, the boss of SpaceX and Starlink, is excited about bringing Starlink's internet service to India.
He said this after a meeting between Starlink's vice president and India's communications minister.
The minister said that satellite technology can help people in far-away and rural areas get better internet access.
The meeting was about making this happen in India.
Starlink wants to provide high-speed internet to these areas, and the Indian government supports this idea to make sure everyone in India has good internet access.
There was a small mistake on Starlink's website that showed some fake prices, but the company fixed it quickly.
Elon Musk expressed excitement about Starlink's potential entry into the Indian market.
Starlink's vice president, Lauren Dreyer, met with Indian communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi.
The meeting discussed advancing satellite-based last-mile access across India, focusing on rural and remote areas.
Scindia emphasized the role of satellite technology in extending connectivity to remote and rural regions, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision of a digitally empowered India.
Starlink's website briefly displayed dummy test data for subscription prices and hardware costs in India, which the company clarified was a glitch and not reflective of actual pricing.
