Karnataka Targets 66 GW Capacity, Seeks Rs 3 Lakh Crore

Karnataka wants to produce much more electricity by 2030.

Its installed power capacity is planned to grow from more than 39 GW to 66 GW.

Officials say most of the growth will use cleaner energy sources.

Electricity use may double because factories, electric vehicles and data centres need more power.

The state plans to expand solar and wind projects.

It is also developing a large pumped-storage project and installing batteries to store electricity.

Karnataka hopes private companies will invest up to Rs 3 lakh crore in the power sector.

Officials are simplifying approvals and using online systems to make projects easier to build.

The state is also seeking global partnerships in battery storage, green hydrogen and smart-grid technology.
