Photographer Captures Stray Dogs’ Pandemic Loneliness on Goa’s Beaches
Rohit Chawla is a photographer who took pictures of stray dogs in Goa.
He made the photographs during the 2021 lockdown.
Many beaches were empty because tourists were gone.
The dogs could no longer find the food they used to get from visitors.
Chawla walked nearly 20 kilometres each day along Ashwem beach.
The dogs followed him while looking for food.
His photographs show the dogs as vulnerable and alone.
The rainy landscape and empty beaches help express the loneliness and uncertainty of the pandemic.
