Reading awareness programme held at Vijayawada's Tagore Library

A group of people got together at a library in Vijayawada, India, to celebrate National Book Lovers Day.

They held a special programme about why reading books is important.

A librarian named Ramadevi talked to the students who were there.

She said that books are like some of the best friends you can have.

She explained that reading regularly helps you gain knowledge and think better.

Reading also helps boost your creativity and build your personality.

She told the students to set aside a little time every day to read.

She said reading can teach us about society, history, culture, science and the world around us.

Other library staff members and students also joined the programme.

Everyone was encouraged to make reading a regular part of their daily lives.
