Karnataka aims to clear lake encroachments before next budget
Karnataka has a lot of lakes, but some people have built things on them, which is not good.
The government wants to fix this by removing all these buildings before the next budget.
They also want to make sure the lakes are taken care of by the people who use them.
The government is thinking about making money from these lakes by selling fishing rights, and they will use that money to keep the lakes clean.
They also released some books to help people understand how to take care of the lakes.
Karnataka has 41,849 waterbodies, with encroachments currently in 6,500 lakes.
The government aims to clear all lake encroachments before the next budget.
Revenue generation plans include auctioning fishing rights in lakes with over 50% water.
Community participation through Lake Users’ Associations is crucial for sustainable water management.
The government will resolve issues to revive community-based lake management institutions.
