Hamas Official Urges US to Pressure Netanyahu on Gaza Deal
A big disagreement is happening between Hamas and Israel.
Hamas is a group in a place called Gaza, and Israel is a nearby country.
The United States and other helpers made a plan to try to bring peace to Gaza.
The plan has different steps, called phases.
Hamas wants the next step of the plan to move forward.
Israel's leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, said no to the plan that the United States supported.
A Hamas leader named Bassem Naim spoke to a news agency called AFP.
He said the United States should tell Mr. Netanyahu to follow the plan.
He thinks Mr. Netanyahu is saying no for his own political reasons.
Many people are now waiting to see what the United States and Israel will do next.
Hamas political bureau member Bassem Naim told AFP that the US must pressure Israel to accept the next phase of the Gaza plan.
Naim said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the US-backed agreement.
Naim called on mediators and the American guarantor to pressure Netanyahu and his government to adhere to the roadmap.
Naim said the process should not be obstructed for internal political and electoral reasons.
