Shinde Promises Fishermen Compensation Within Two Months After TISS Report

The government is studying how to compensate fishermen affected by a sea-link project.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences is preparing a report about the rules for this compensation.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the government will make a decision within two months after receiving the report.

Officials and fishermen’s representatives discussed the issue in a meeting.

They also talked about fishermen who have not received compensation for the Coastal Road project.

The government said it supports the fishing community.

Officials discussed building a jetty and places for fixing and drying fishing nets.

These facilities were proposed for the Juhu-Versova area.
