FIFA Faces Backlash Over High 2026 World Cup Ticket Prices
FIFA is being criticized for setting very high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
A group called Football Supporters Europe (FSE) says these prices are too high and will stop many fans from attending.
They think FIFA is trying to make too much money and is forgetting about the fans.
For some countries, like Haiti, the cheapest ticket costs more than what people earn in a month.
The FSE wants FIFA to stop selling these expensive tickets.
Some fans are disappointed and may not be able to go to the World Cup because of the high prices.
FIFA is accused of setting 'astronomical' ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, with the minimum cost for following a team from start to finish being $6,900.
Football Supporters Europe (FSE) has labeled FIFA's pricing as a 'monumental betrayal' and urged a halt to ticket sales.
Ticket prices vary based on the 'attractiveness' of fixtures, leading to different prices for the same category at the same stage.
For some nations like Haiti and Ghana, the cheapest tickets exceed the average monthly income, making it unaffordable for many fans.
The Football Supporters Association in England and Wales has also criticized the prices, calling them 'disgraceful' and backing FSE's call to halt sales.
