IndiGo Cancels Flights Due to Dense Fog
IndiGo, a big airline in India, had to cancel some flights because of very thick fog.
This fog made it hard for planes to take off and land safely.
One family who had their flight cancelled from Calcutta to Varanasi had to drive instead, which took more than 14 hours and cost them a lot more money.
IndiGo said they are sorry and are trying their best to help people.
They also said they are ready for more people travelling during the holiday season.
The fog was not just in one place; it was in many parts of India, like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Agra.
In some places, the fog was so thick that people could not see very far, but in other places, the skies were clear.
IndiGo is also getting new planes soon to fly to more places.
The government has asked all airlines to follow strict rules to keep flights safe during the foggy season.
IndiGo cancelled flights due to dense fog and low visibility in Bengaluru, Varanasi, Chandigarh, Guwahati, and other parts of India.
A family from Calcutta had to drive 14+ hours to Varanasi after their flight was cancelled, costing ₹43,000.
IndiGo offered the earliest alternative flight on December 27 and is closely monitoring weather conditions.
IndiGo claims to be fully prepared for holiday season traffic demand, operating 2,100-2,200 flights daily.
The government has directed airlines to implement strict SOPs and use advanced equipment to handle foggy conditions.
