Iran Signals Talks While Warning Conflict Could Expand

Iran, Israel, the United States, and countries around the Gulf remain involved in a dangerous standoff.

Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, said the United States can choose whether the conflict ends.

He said Iran wants to bring back an understanding reached during a June ceasefire.

Iran reportedly wants this to happen before America’s November midterm elections.

Iranian officials are also discussing a possible deal involving the Strait of Hormuz.

Under that idea, the strait could reopen if the United States reduces its economic blockade.

However, an Iranian military adviser warned that new American attacks could spread the fighting.

The opposing messages show that diplomacy and escalation remain possible at the same time.
