India's CPI Data Collection to Go Digital with CAPI Tablets from 2023
Starting next year, India will use tablets to collect data for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures retail inflation.
This change is expected to make data collection faster and more accurate.
The government is currently testing this new method and plans to fully implement it by January 2023.
Additionally, a new CPI with a 2024 base year will be released in 2026 using the same digital method.
