DU Renames Hall, Announces Convocation
Delhi University has decided to rename a big hall in the Arts Faculty to 'Vande Mataram Hall'.
This hall is being fixed up and the university says they chose this name because it's been 150 years since Vande Mataram was written.
Some people think this is because of a big argument in the government about whether everyone should sing Vande Mataram, but the university says it's not.
They also said that the Vice President of India will be the special guest at their big graduation ceremony next year on February 28.
The university is also making new places for students to stay and learn more about the Odia language and culture.
Delhi University's Arts Faculty convention hall renamed 'Vande Mataram Hall' to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song.
Vice President C P Radhakrishnan confirmed as chief guest for the 102nd convocation on February 28, 2026.
University administration denies any political motivation behind the renaming, stating it's coincidental with parliamentary debates.
Executive Council approves the establishment of a Centre for Odia Studies and a new girls' hostel.
University's revised budget for 2025-26 reduced to Rs 1,312.33 crore, with Rs 1,651.42 crore allocated for 2026-27.
