Uddhav Sena Leader Slams Mumbai BJP Chief Over 'No Khan' Remark
A politician in Mumbai named Ameet Satam said that a person with the surname 'Khan' would not be accepted as the mayor of Mumbai.
This comment came after a man named Zohram Mamdani, who has Muslim and Indian roots, was elected mayor of New York City.
Another politician, Anand Dubey, criticized Satam's statement, calling it a sign of his mental state deteriorating.
Dubey also brought up a program where the BJP distributed gift kits called 'Saugat-e-Modi' to Muslims earlier in the year and questioned if these kits were meant for Mamdani or for countries like Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Dubey expressed confidence that a Marathi Hindu would become the mayor of Mumbai and suggested that Satam's BJP party might not do well in the upcoming local elections.
Mumbai BJP President Ameet Satam stated that imposing a 'Khan' on Mumbai would not be tolerated.
Satam's remark followed the election of Zohram Mamdani, the first Muslim and Indian-origin mayor of New York City.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey criticized Satam's statement, calling it 'bizarre' and indicative of the BJP's potential electoral decline in Mumbai.
Dubey questioned if 'Saugat-e-Modi' kits were intended for Mamdani, Pakistan, or Bangladesh, referencing a past BJP distribution initiative.
The controversy occurs ahead of the Mumbai civic polls (BMC elections), with Dubey expressing confidence in a Marathi Hindu mayor for Mumbai.
