Threads Edges Out X in Daily Mobile Users Amidst Social Media Rivalry
Imagine two big online playgrounds, Threads and X, run by Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.
For the first time in October, more people used Threads on their phones every day than used X. Threads had about 128 million daily phone users, while X had about 125 million.
This is a big deal because Threads is still new, having launched after Elon Musk bought X (which used to be called Twitter) and changed it.
Some people didn't like the changes X made, like how they handle who gets a blue checkmark.
Threads is connected to Instagram, which has way more users, helping it get people to join.
However, X is still way more popular on computers, with many more people using its website each day compared to Threads' website.
This is part of a bigger competition between Zuckerberg and Musk.
Threads surpassed X in global daily active mobile users for October, with 128.2 million users compared to X's 124.7 million.
Threads' integration with Instagram is cited as a key factor in its user growth, while X has seen a decline.
Threads' daily active users increased by 48% year-over-year, whereas X's daily active users decreased by 16%.
Despite Threads' mobile lead, X maintains a significant advantage in daily web traffic, with 141.7 million users versus Threads' 7.6 million.
The competition reflects the ongoing rivalry between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and X owner Elon Musk.
