Israel Mandates Arabic, Islamic Studies for Intelligence Officers
The Israeli military is changing how it trains its intelligence officers.
They're making it required for all officers to learn Arabic and study Islam.
This is because of issues with intelligence, particularly around October 7, 2023.
They want officers to be better at understanding the language and culture.
They'll also focus on different Arabic dialects, and are bringing back a program to teach Arabic in schools to support this.
IDF makes Arabic and Islamic Studies mandatory for all intelligence officers.
The decision was made in response to intelligence failures, especially after October 7, 2023.
AMAN personnel will be fully trained in Islamic Studies by the end of next year.
Soldiers in technical and cyber roles will now undergo Arabic and Islamic Studies.
The Tel-M program for Arabic education will be revived under Unit 8200.
