Rural Roads under PMGSY Surpass 7.83 Lakh Km
The Indian government has built a lot of roads in the countryside!
Over 783,000 kilometers of roads and nearly 10,000 bridges have been finished.
This helps connect villages to schools and hospitals.
It also creates jobs and helps farmers sell their goods.
The government is also using new, eco-friendly ways to build these roads, helping the environment.
A special project is also improving roads in areas affected by extremist groups.
Over 7.83 lakh km of rural roads and 9,891 bridges have been completed under the PMGSY.
The PMGSY aims to connect unconnected rural habitations with all-weather roads.
For the current financial year 2025-26, the PMGSY program continues to receive Rs 19,000 crore.
The scheme promotes the use of local, non-conventional, and green technologies in construction.
