Former CIA Official Pleads Guilty in $194 Million Fraud

David J. Rush used to be a senior official at the CIA.

He pleaded guilty to wire fraud, a crime involving dishonest use of electronic communications or money transfers.

Prosecutors say he made up secret government projects to get money and gold.

They say he used some of the money to buy four luxury homes in Florida.

The Justice Department says the government lost about $194 million.

Investigators found gold bars, cash, and watches at his home.

Rush's lawyer previously said the gold was properly obtained and kept in a safe.

A judge is scheduled to decide his sentence on Jan.

28.
